【作曲賞】Eli Fieldsteel／Fantasy for Wind Symphony

【作品解説】
Fantasy for wind symphony is a lively, tumultuous work composed in early 2007.
The piece explores a variety of sounds,textures, and dynamics, but always holds fast to a brief, ubiqutous motif. As a result, the melody travels through dense and sparse textures, fast and slow tempos, and tense and relaxed moods. Above all else, the work is intended to engage performers and listeners alike, to be a thrill to both play and hear.
The piece received its premiere from the Brown Wind Symphony on April 28, 2007, under Eli Fieldsteel's baton.
It was performed again by the Wesleyan wind Ensemble on December 2,2008.

【プロフィール】
Fieldsteel bacame seriously interested in composition in 2002 when he joined the Wesleyan Wind Ensemble as a percussionist and timpanist.
Over the next three years, the group premiered and recorded six of his compositions for wind band.
Fieldsteel received his Bachelor's degree in music from Brown University in 2008.During his time there, he studied composition, orchistration, and counterpoint with Gerald Shapiro.
In 2005, he became the student conductor of the Brown Wind Symphony and Conducted several of his new works.
Fieldsteel is currently studying with Cindy McTee at the University of North Texas, where he is pursuing a Master's degree in composition with a minor in wind conducting.
In 2009, his Fatasy for Wind Symphony was selected as a finalist in the second Frank Ticheli Competition.
His orchestral work, Cordillera, was recently serected for performance by the UNT Symphony Orchestra in the annual Concerto Competition.

【佳作】長谷川 浩一／行進曲「大空への飛行」

【作品解説】
私の勤務する常滑市には「中部国際空港（セントレア）」があります。ここから飛び立つ飛行機の様子をさわやかなマーチで表現してみたのがこの曲です。

南山大学文学部教育学科卒業。常滑市立常滑中学校教諭、作曲集団「風の会」会員、日本吹奏楽指導者協会会員、日本スーザ協会会員。

【作品解説】
厳かに宇宙の広大さを表現した序奏に始まり、次いで非常に元気のよいテーマが現れます。中間部は星の流れる静かな宇宙空間を表現していますが、そのテーマのリズムは前に経過パッセージに出てきた３拍フレーズを用いています。やがて、力強い行進曲風に変わり、最後は、新しい世代の活躍を期待させる雄大な曲想で終わります。

【プロフィール】
桐朋高校ピアノ科、東京音大ピアノ科を経て、（財）ヤマハ音楽振興会スタッフ、講師養成コースピアノ講師、グレード試験官、音楽教室講師など。

渡部 哲哉／Spread Brilliant Wings　−輝く翼を広げて−

【作品解説】
どこまでも空高く、そしてどこまでも遠くへ行ける大きな翼を持ち、遥か彼方の地平線（夢）へ向かって地上の風景（時代）を見つめ、 時には自由に飛び回り、そして時には羽を休め後戻りの出来ない次々と過ぎ去る景色（過去）を見ながら、 羽ばたいている大きな鳥を連想させるべく「急・緩・急」のスタイルで進んでいきます。この曲想・スタイルは、1980〜90年代一世風靡したアメリカの作曲家、リード、バーンズ、スウェアリンジェン、スミス等の作品を意識しています。吹奏楽を今でも愛し続ける人は多いはずです。愛すきっかけとなった時代のいいものを取り入れつつ、次の時代への架け橋となるように、という意味を込めて自分のカラーも取り入れています。実は何を隠そう、この私もこの世代に吹奏楽を始め、その魅力に取り憑かれた張本人ですから。

【プロフィール】
東京コンセルヴァトアール尚美卒業。1997年管楽合奏の作編曲コンテスト佳作入選。2002年JBA下谷賞受賞。2003、2006年同佳作入選。2004年自由演奏会作曲コンクール最終終章受賞。
